Can you paint a golf cart using car paint? Yes, primers make it happen!

Whether you need to refresh an old golf cart or want to stand out on the links, did you know you can paint your golf cart using automotive paint? It’s true! Painting or repainting a golf cart is just like painting any other vehicle as long as you use the correct primers.

Golf carts are made of various materials including plastic, fiberglass, aluminum, and even wood. When painting over plastic parts, it is very important to use a good adhesion promoter like our Super Stick Adhesion Promoter available in both quarts and gallons. If the plastic pieces have been previously painted and are in perfect condition, you can go straight to paint after using the adhesion promoter. Otherwise, you will need to follow up with auto paint primer and/or a high build urethane primer.

All the other parts of the golf cart will require an epoxy primer like our Rust Killer Epoxy Primer Sealer available in quarts and gallons. Follow the epoxy primer with a high build primer like our Super Fill 2K Urethane High Build Primer available in quarts and gallons. All our primers come in a variety of different shades, too.

Once your golf cart is properly primed and prepped, you are ready to paint just like you would any other vehicle. We offer a wide variety of paint types and colors all which already have flex additive in them for plastic and fiberglass parts. Breathe new life into your golf cart with a new paint job. Not only will it look amazing but it will be protected against the elements, helping it last longer.
